Today I received feedback from the last of my five readers of my second novel, Deadly Loop. Now the next stage of revision begins!
As usual, their critique is invaluable, ranging from plot twists which need more development to characters which need more “fleshing out.”
The good news is they all liked Andy, loved the twists and turns of the plot, and didn’t figure it all out until very near the end. The bad news is that I have another 3-4 weeks of work before it’s ready for editing. But, that’s how novel writing goes–you write and you write, and then you rewrite and you rewrite!
Hopefully, I’ll have the work done in time for the Writer’s Digest Conference, April 5-7, in New York. That’s when I’ll be pitching Deadly Loop to agents, with an introduction like this:
“In less than 24 hours, professional caddy Andy Marsh is fired and his good friend Tim Wainright is found murdered in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. His efforts to find Tim’s killers take him through a tangled web of gambling, human trafficking, crooked caddies, and a jilted lover. Will Andy and Tim’s sister, Patricia, uncover the truth before being murdered themselves?”
Be patient, Deadly Loop is on the way!
